Patricia Saputo manages her immediate family’s “Family Office” in her role as the Chief Financial Officer of Placements Italcan Inc., a diversified investment holding company. She has been employed by the company since 1998. Her specialization is in the domain of investment holding companies, personal and corporate tax, and Estate/Succession planning which includes investment planning, will planning and life insurance planning. She is developing expertise in the area of managing wealth as it is distributed to future generations so they become responsible stewards of their own wealth.

From 1991 to 1998, she developed her expertise in accounting and taxation while employed by Samson Belair / Deloitte & Touche, one of the world’s largest chartered accounting, management consulting and tax services firm.

Ms. Saputo currently sits on the Board of Directors of Saputo Inc. (since 1999) and on the Board of Governors of Concordia University Foundation (since 2005) and Concordia University Pension Plan (since 2008). On the Foundation she is a member of the Investment Committee and Chairs the Audit Committee. On the Pension Plan she is the Vice-Chair and on the investment sub-committee of the pension plan, she is the Chair whereby they actively review the investment strategy to ensure it is in line with the investment policy as well as review the risk assessment of the overall pension plan and review of the money managers. In the past, she was a Governor of Concordia University for 7 years, a Governor of St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation for 4 years, and a Director of Eureka Lighting, a privately owned small cap lighting company, for 2 years.

Ms. Saputo has been very involved with the Quebec education sector at both the elementary and high school level. Although currently involved with Hillcrest Academy’s Home & School Association (HAHSA) as an executive member and Treasurer, she was the Chair of Hillcrest Academy’s Governing Board for 3 years. She was also the elected parent delegate for Hillcrest Academy to the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board’s Parents’ Committee where she has held positions of Chair or Treasurer for 5 years. She was also the elected director of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board (SWLSB) to the English Parents’ Committee Association (EPCA) that represents the 11% of the English student population in elementary and high schools in the Province of Quebec. At the EPCA she was an executive Director and held the position of Treasurer. She has been involved with Bill 58 on Anti-Bullying and Anti-Violence and with Bill 14 on the amendments to Bill 101.

Ms. Saputo has also devoted her time to judging International case competitions for the Concordia University JMSB MBA International Case Competition and that of the JMSB Undergrad Case Competition. She has also sat on the advisory committee of the JMUCC (John Molson Undergrad Case Competition). She has also been involved in the Concordia University WIBC (Women in Business Club) by mentoring some MBA students, and being a speaker at an event during Women’s Week in January 2008. She has also given testimonial speeches at the AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) in November 2012, the CIPBA (Canadian-Italian Professional Business Association) Bursary Award evening in November 2008 and at the St. Mary’s Hospital Ball in November 2005.

Ms. Saputo enjoys dancing and reading and educating others. She is a life learner and believes that “Education is an incomplete one”!
