Inspired by his great grandfather’s humble origins as an orphan in 1850’s Germany, Uli launched the Maybach Foundation ( in 2006 at the United Nations with the mission to mentor talent in adversity as a means to effect positive social change. Mr. Maybach was inducted into the Council of Mentors of the United Nations Global Youth Leadership Network in New York on October 2006.

An avid skier and mountaineer, Uli frequently shuttles between Europe and Asia building out his investor and philanthropic networks. He commutes to work in an electric Smart car, but when the stakes are high he takes the Maybach.
